Stockinette Stitch. Knit stitches on the right side, purl stitches on the wrong side.
Reverse Stockinette Stitch. Purl stitches on the right side, knit stitches on the wrong side; in circular rows, knit all stitches.
Cable Pattern: Number of stitches is a multiple of 12 + 2. Knit according to the chart, which shows the right side rows; on the wrong side rows, knit the stitches as they appear. Start with the stitches before the right arrow, repeat the 12-stitch pattern between the arrows 3 times, and finish with the stitches after the left arrow. Knit rows 1–28 once, then repeat rows 3–28.
Decreases. On the right edge: edge stitch, 1 knit, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1, pass the slipped stitch over. On the left edge: knit 2 together, 1 knit, edge stitch.

Front. Knit as the back, but for the V-neck, divide the work in the middle after 18 (20) 22 cm from the starting row (= after the 24th row of the cable pattern) and finish each side separately. For the neckline, decrease at the inner edge in every 4th row, 10 x 1 stitch (in every 2nd row, 2 x 1 stitch and in every 4th row, 9 x 1 stitch) in every 2nd row, 3 x 1 stitch and in every 4th row, 8 x 1 stitch. Finish the other side symmetrically.
Assembly. Pin the pieces to the pattern, moisten, and let dry. Sew shoulder seams. With circular needles No. 4.5, pick up 88 (92) 96 stitches along the neckline edge and knit 1 round of purl stitches. For the neckband, knit in ribbing, distributing the stitches so that 2 purl stitches are at the V-neck corner and knit 2 stitches together in the corner in every round. When the neckband is 2.5 cm high, bind off all stitches as purl. With circular needles No. 4.5, pick up 50 (54) 58 stitches along the armholes and knit 1 round of purl stitches.
