Work description

On needles No. 3.5, cast on 180 sts, knit in ribbed pattern for 6 rows. Then switch to needles No. 4 and knit as follows: 63 sts in 1x1 rib, 55 sts following the pattern chart, the remaining sts in 1x1 rib. Knit this way for 18 rows. Then, only knit the central 55 sts, set aside the edge sts. In every row, knit the last st of the central part together with a stitch from the side part (similar to knitting the heel of a sock). Decrease sts in this manner until there are 27 rib sts, 55 pattern sts, and another 27 rib sts left on the needles. Cast off all sts. Seam the work.

For the visor, on needles No. 3.5, cast on 44 sts and knit short rows, leaving 2 sts unworked on each side every other row. Do this for 14 rows. Then knit another 14 rows, incorporating the unworked sts from each side every other row. Cast off the sts. Insert a plastic visor inside, seam it. Sew the visor to the cap.
