Size 36/38 (40/42, 44/46)
Instructions are given for first size. Figures in parenthesis refer to larger sizes. When only one figure is given, it applies to all sizes.
Materials: 350 (400, 450) g of Lana Grossa Nizza (74% cotton, 25% polyester, 1% polyester (metallized); 115 m/50 g) in Beige/Sand/Gold (col 7).
Size 3.5, 4 and 4.5 mm needles; size 4 mm crochet hook.
Rib pattern: P2, k2.
Mesh lace: Even number of sts. Work according to chart. Number at right edge of chart indicates RS row, number at left edge of chart indicates WS row. Repeat rows 1 and 2 throughout.
Gauge: 18 sts and 25 rows = 10 x 10 cm in mesh lace on size 4.5 mm needles.
Back: With size 4 mm needles, cast on 78 (84, 90) sts. Purl 1 WS row. Change to size 4.5 mm needles.
Next RS row: Selvage st, work row 1 of chart for mesh lace, end selvage st. Work in pat as established until back measures 34 (35, 36) cm from cast-on, ending with a WS row.
Shape armholes: Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows, 2 sts at beg of next 4 rows, 1 st at beg of next 8 rows = 56 (62, 68) sts. Cont until armhole measures 17 (18, 19) cm, ending with a WS row.
Shape shoulders and neck: Bind off 9 (10, 11) sts at each shoulder edge twice. At same time, on first row of shoulder shaping, shape neck: Bind off center 14 (16, 18) sts. Working each side separately, bind off 3 sts at each neck edge once. No sts remain after shoulder and neck shaping is complete.
Left front: With size 3.5 mm needles, cast on 52 (56, 60) sts.
Next WS row: Selvage st, p3, * k2, p2; rep from * to last st, selvage st. Work in rib pat as established for 9 cm, ending with a WS row. Change to size 4.5 mm needles.
Next RS [inc] row: Selvage st, k2tog, [yo, k1] 5 times, * k2tog, yo, [k1, yo] 5 times; rep from * 5 times more, end k2tog, yo, selvage st (selvage st, k2tog, yo, k2tog, [yo, k1] 5 times, * k2tog, yo, [k1, yo] 5 times; rep from * 5 times more, end k2tog, yo, k2tog, yo, selvage st / selvage st, k2tog, yo, k2tog, yo, k2tog, [yo, k1] 5 times, * k2tog, yo, [k1, yo] 5 times; rep from * 5 times more, end k2tog, yo, k2tog, yo, k2tog, yo, selvage st) = 34 sts increased and 86 (90, 94) sts total.
Next WS row: Selvage st, work row 2 of chart for mesh lace, end selvage st. Cont in mesh lace until left front measures 34 (35, 36) cm from cast-on, ending with a WS row.
Shape armhole: Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2 RS rows, 2 sts at beg of next 2 RS rows, 1 st at beg of next 2 RS rows = 74 (78, 82) sts. Work even in mesh lace for 13 (15, 17) rows more, ending with a WS row Inc 1 st at beg of next RS row, then every other RS row twice, then every foll RS row 7 times = 84 (88, 92) sts. Work even in mesh lace for 5 rows more, ending with a WS row.
Shape shoulder: Bind off 1 st at beg of next 12 RS rows. Bind off remaining 72 (76, 80) sts.
Right front: Work same as for left front, reversing all shaping.
Finishing: Pin pieces to measurements and block. Sew shoulder seams over 9.5 (11, 12.5) cm. Sew side seams. With size 4 mm crochet hook, work 1 row slip st along right front, back neck and left front edge. Work 1 rnd slip st around each armhole edge.
