Art. 930, 100% cotton, 122 yds/2.5oz ball

Pair of size 6 (4.25 mm) needles, or size needed to achieve gauge

Tapestry needle


Gauge: 18 sts & 32 rows = 4” in garter stitch on size 6 (4.25 mm) needles

Pattern notes: Dishcloth is worked in one piece from lower border to top border.

Three stitches at each edge are maintained in garter stitch throughout.


Special stitches:

Garter stitch: Knit every row.

Twist two right (T2R): Skip first stitch on left needle and knit into second stitch but do not remove it from needle. Knit into first stitch (the skipped stitch) and move both stitches off left and on to right needle.

Begin pattern:

Row 1 (RS): K3, p1, *k2, p1, rep from * across to last 3 sts, k3.

Row 2 (WS): K3, k1, *p2, k1, rep from * across to last 3 sts, k3.

Row 3: Rep Row 1.

Row 4: Rep Row 2.

Row 5 (twist st row): K3, p1, *T2R, p1, rep from * across to last 3 sts, k 3.

Row 6: Rep Row 2.

Rep Rows 1-6 six times.

Border preparation rows:

Next row: K3, p1, *k2, p1, rep from * across to last 3 sts, k3.

Next row: K3, k1, *p2, k1, rep from * across to last 3 sts, k3.

Upper border:

K 6 rows.

Bind off and weave in tails.
