Version 1:

When casting on sts at the beginning of a row, use the Knitted Cast On method as follows:

*Insert right needle into first stitch on left needle. Wrap yarn and draw through as if to knit but do not remove stitch from left needle. Place new stitch on left needle. Repeat from * for knitted cast-on.

C4B: Slip next 2 sts to cable needle and hold to back of work; k1, p1, [k1, p1] from cable needle.

C8B: Slip next 4 sts to cable needle and hold to back of work; [k1, p1] twice, [k1, p1] twice from cable needle.

Version 2:

C8F: Slip next 4 sts to cable needle and hold to front of work; [k1, p1] twice, [k1, p1] twice from cable needle.

C8B: Slip next 4 sts to cable needle and hold to back of work; [k1, p1] twice, [k1, p1] twice from cable needle.
