Knitted Newborn Beanie Hat

Materials Needed:

• A pair each of 3.5mm and 4mm knitting needles.
• Approx 25g of DK yarn. I used Yarnsmiths Merino DK.
• Scissors and a needle for sewing up.

Pattern:

On 3.5mm needles, cast on 60 stitches.

K (garter stitch) 8 rows.

Change to 4mm needles.

Work the following 4 rows:

Row 1: Knit.

Row 2: Purl.

Row 3: * K1, p1; repeat from * to the end of the row.

Row 4 Purl.

Repeat these 4 rows 6 times more.

Now shape the top of the hat as follows:

*k3, k2tog; repeat from * to end of row (48)

*k1, k2tog; repeat from * to end of row (24)

P

*k2tog; repeat from * to end of row (12)

Cut yarn, leaving a long enough piece to sew up back seam.

Thread yarn through the remaining stitches, pull to gather top of hat and sew up the back seam.

Weave in all loose yarn ends.
