Finished Measurements: 5 inches wide; 15 ½ [18] inches circumference. Headband will stretch significantly to fit a range of sizes.
Yarn: Ancient Arts Yarns Lascaux (25% Manx Loaghtan and 75% Punta Arenas Wool; 220 yds [200 m]; 3.5 oz [100 g]; CYCA weight 4 worsted): 1 skein in Daring.
Knitting Needles: Size US7 [4.5 mm]. You may use a 40 inch long circular for the magic loop method, a circular needle that is a little shorter than the circumference of the headband, or 6 [8] inch double-pointed needles. Adjust needle sizes if necessary to obtain gauge.
Notions: Tapestry needle.
Gauge: CO 36 sts and work in pattern. This swatch should measure about 5 inches tall and 7 ¾ inches around.
Notes
You will not turn between rnds. All rnds are worked on the RS.
Headband begins with four rnds of ribbing along bottom edge.
Next you will follow the chart for the textured pattern. White boxes will be knit, pink boxes will be purled.
After you finish the chart you will work four more rnds of ribbing and bind off in pattern.
Headband
CO 72 [84] sts.
Rnds 1-4: Working in the rnd, work 4 rnds of K1, P1 ribbing.
Rnds 5-29: Follow the chart. Each box represents one st. K all white boxes, P all pink boxes, repeat chart 6 [7] times around for circumference of headband.
Rnds 30-33: Work 4 rnds of K1, P1 ribbing. Bind off in pattern.
Finishing
Weave in all ends. Blocking is not necessary.
