Knitted Baby Boots

Materials

  • DK or 8ply yarn
  • 2 small buttons
  • 3mm straight knitting needles
  • Yarn needle for seaming
  • Row marker

This will fit a newborn to 3 months depending on the size of the baby.

Using DK yarn and ur 3mm needles,cast on 31 stitches and knit 1 row

Row 2: K1, yarn over, K14, yarn over, K1, yarn over, K14, yarn over, K1

Row 3: knit (when u get to the yarn overs, knit the back of the stitch)

Row 4: K2, yarn over, K14, yarn over, K3, yarn over, K14, yarn over, K2

Row 5: knit (when u get to the yarn overs, knit the back of the stitch)

Row 6: K3, yarn over, K14, yarn over, K5, yarn over, K14, yarn over, K3

Row 7: knit (when u get to the yarn overs, knit the back of the stitch)

Row 8: K4, yarn over, K14, yarn over, K7, yarn over, K14, yarn over, K4

Row 9: knit (when u get to the yarn overs, knit the back of the stitch) (47 stitches)

Rows 10-17: Knit all stitches.

Row 18: K27, K2TOG and turn

Row 19-27: K8, K2TOG and turn

ROW 28: K8, K2TOG and knit to the end

Row 29: K21, K2TOG and knit to the end

Row 30: K9, place the 9 stitches on holder, cast off till u have 8 stitches in the left needle and knit to the end(8+1 u have during cast off=9)

FOR LEFT BOOTIE

STRAP:

Row 1: K9, cast on 13 stitches using cable cast on method

Row 2: knit all stitches

Row 3: K18, K2TOG, yarn over, K2

Row 4: knit all stitches

Bind off

Rejoin yarn where you started binding off

Knit 4 rows

Bind off

FOR RIGHT BOOTIE

Knit 4 rows

Bind off

STRAP:

Row 1: cast on 13 stitches using the thumb method and knit across the 9 stitches

Row 2: knit all stitches

Row 3: K2, yarn over, K2TOG, Knit to the end

Row 4: knit all stitches

Bind off

Finishing:

Sew back and bottom of booties. Sew buttons securely. Weave in all yarn ends to wrong side of work.

Note: Small buttons may pose a choking hazard, so be sure to stitch securely to bootie
