Instructions:

There are two versions: the Easy Version, which requires some sewing, and the Sew-Free Version, for people (like me) who hate finishing. The pictured example is the Sew-Free Version.

EASY VERSION

BODY:

  • CO 4 sts
  • K i-cord for 5 inches.
  • Pull yarn through live sts, and pull tight.
  • Curl CO edge around so that it touches the body of the key halfway down. Use the CO tail to sew the CO edge to the body of the key to form the handle.

TEETH:

  • CO 3 sts. K i-cord 2 rows. Cut and pull yarn through live sts, and pull tight. Sew to bottom edge of key.
  • Repeat.

FINISHING:

  • Weave in ends. FIN.

SEW-FREE VERSION

  • CO 4 sts

HANDLE:

  • K i-cord for 2.5 inches.
  • Next Row: pick up 1 st from CO edge and k2tog, k to end of round.
  • Next Row: repeat previous row.

BODY:

  • K i-cord for another 2.5 inches. Cut yarn, leaving VERY long tail, pull yarn through live sts, and pull tight.

TEETH:

  • Pick up 1 st from last row at bottom edge of key and 1 st from second-to-last row at bottom edge of key. CO 1 st by backwards loop method.
  • K i-cord 2 rows. Pull yarn through live sts and pull tight. Weave yarn through i-cord to bottom of tooth.
  • Repeat previous instructions for second tooth.

FINISHING:

  • Weave in ends. FIN.
