US 13 / 9mm 16” circular knitting needles
Large needle to weave ends
Stitches Used / Abbreviations:
co – cast on (using long tail cast on method)
k – knit
p – purl
st(s) – stitches
bo – bind off
Finished Size: 19” circumference x 5” depth / Stretches to 22”
CO 52 using the circular needle; Place marker and join to work in the round, being careful not to twist sts
Round 1: * k1, p1 * repeat * to * around
Round 2: * p1, k1 * repeat * to * around
Rounds 3 and on: Repeat Rounds 1 & 2 alternating until band reaches 5”
Bind Off
Fasten Off leaving 5” tail
Block.
Using the 5” tail, weave in and out across the width of the headband following the stitch pattern then pull tight like a drawstring.
This will create a cinch.
Weave the tail back in the other direction and pull tight a second time.
This will amplify the cinch effect
Fasten and secure the end and fasten off.
Weave in all ends.
