Knitted Beautiful Penguin

Have you ever seen a knitted beautiful penguin? The intricate detail in the stitching brings out the fluffy texture of its belly and the distinct black and white pattern of its feathers. This little knitted creature seems to have a personality all its own, with its adorable beady eyes and sweet little wings. It's hard not to smile when you see such a charming creation. Whether it's sitting on a shelf or being cuddled by a child, a knitted beautiful penguin is sure to bring warmth and joy to anyone who crosses its path.

You need

50g of the main color in DK, I used dark blue Drops Muskat

Oddments yellow and off-white DK yarn

Safety eyes

Polyester filling

Needle

Size 3,5mm knitting needles

Body and head (make 1 with dark blue, the whole toy is knitted flat)

Cast on 36sts. K1 row.

Next row: K1, [m1, k5] repeat [_] to end. St-st 3 rows.

Next row: K1, [m1, k6], repeat [_] to end (50sts). St-st 3rows.

Next row: K1, [m1,k7], repeat [_] to end.

Beginning with P row st-st 23 rows.

Next row: K1, [k2tog, k5], repeat [_] to end. St-st 3 rows.

Next row: K1, [k2tog, k4], repeat [_] to end. P1 row

Next row, K1, [k2tog, k3], repeat [_] to end. P1 row.

Next row: K1, [k2tog k2], repeat [_] to end. P1 row.

Next row: K1, [k2tog, k1], repeat [_] to end. P1 row.

Next row : k1, [m1, k1], repeat [_] to end. P1 row.

Next row: K1, [m1, k2], repeat [_] to end. P1 row.

Next row: K1, [m1, k6], repeat [_] to end. St-st 17 rows.

Next row: K1, [k2tog, k5], repeat [_] to end. P1 row

Next row: K1, [k2tog, k4], repeat [_] to end. P1 row

Next row: K1, [k2tog, k2], repeat [_] tp end. P1 row

Next row: K1, [k2tog, k1], repeat [_] to end.

Next row: K1, [k2tog] repeat [_] to end.

Cut off the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches. Sew the back seam to the bottom, leave the bottom open and stuff the body and head firmly. If you use safety eyes insert those to the middle of the head a few centimeters apart before stuffing the head and body.

Mark the center middle of the head, neck and bottom edge with a stitch marker or just regular pins like I did.

Wings (worked flat, make 2 with dark blue)

Cast on 20sts. Beginning with P row st-st 5 rows.

Next row: K1, skpo, knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1. St-st 3 rows.

Repeat the last 4 rows 4 more times (so 5 times in total).

Next row: K1, skpo, knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1. P1 row.

Repeat the last two rows 2 more times (so 3 times in total).

Cast off 4sts knitwise.

Fold the wing in half and sew the long edge. Sew the short edge of the wings to the sides of the body firmly. You can stuff the wings lightly, but I just left the wings in my toy unstuffed.

Stomach piece (make 1)

Cast on 13sts with off-white. P1 row

Next row: K1, m1, knit to last 1, m1, k1. P1 row.

Next row: K1, m1, knit to last 1, m1, k1. St-st 3 rows.

Next row: K1, m1, knit to last 1, m1, k1. St-st 13 rows.

Next row: K1, skpo, knit to last 3sts, k2tog, k1. St-st 3 rows.

Next row: K1, skpo, knit to last 3sts, k2tog, k1. St-st 3 rows.

Next row: K1, skpo, knit to last 3sts, k2tog, k1. St-st 3 rows.

Next row: K1, skpo, knit to last 3sts, k2tog, k1. St-st 5 rows.

Cast off knitwise. Mark the middle of the stomach piece on the neck and bottom with a pin or a stitch marker and match to the body. Pin in place and sew stomach to the middle of the body.

Bottom piece (make 1 with off-white)

Cast on 16sts, p1 row.

Next row: K1, m1, knit to last 1, m1, k1. St-st 5 rows.

Next row: K1, skpo, knit to last 3sts, k2tog, k1. P1 row.

Next row: K1, skpo, knit to last 3sts, k2tog, k1. St-st 3rows.

Next row: K1, skpo, knit to last 3sts, k2tog, k1. P1 row.

Next row: K1, skpo, knit to last 3sts, k2tog, k1. P1 row.

Next row: K1, skpo, knit to last 3sts, k2tog, k1. P1 row.

Cast off knitwise. Mark the center of both the cast-on and cast-off edges. Align the middle of the cast-off with the back seam of the body and pin the cast-on to the front of the body, aligning the middle of the body and the middle of the cast-on edge. Sew the bottom to the body.

Beak (make 1 with yellow)

Cast on 12sts. Beginning with P row st-st 3 rows.

Next row: [k2tog, k2], repeat [_] to end. P1 row

Next row: [k1, k2tog], repeat [_] to end. P1 row.

Next row: k2tog 3 times. Cut off the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches. Fold in half and sew the diagonal seam. Stuff the beak lightly and sew the beak to the lower middle part of the head.

Feet (make 2 with yellow)

Cast on 13sts. Beginning with P row st-st 3rows.

Next row: K1, m1, k4, m1, k1, m1, k4, m1, k1. St-st 7rows.

Next row: K1, m1, k6, m1, k1, m1, k6, m1, k1. St-st 3rows.

Next row: K1, skpo, k4, k2tog, k1, skpo, k4, k2tog, k1. P1 row.

Next row: K1, skpo, k2, k2tog, k1, skpo, k2, k2tog, k1. P1 row.

Next row: K1, skpo, k2tog, k1, skpo, k2tog, k1. P1 row. Cast off knitwise.

Fold in half and sew the curved seam, stuffing is optional, and then sew the cast on edge closed. Sew feet to the bottom piece, the cast-on edge facing backwards.
