Knitting needles 3mm and 3,5mm
DK yarn
Furry yarn (about Worsted or Aran), I used a random old skein from my stash.
Stuffing
Pair of safety eyes
Tapestry needle
Legs (make 2)
Cast on 13sts with light brown yarn. P 1 row.
Next row: K1, [m1, K1] repeat [_] to the end. P1 row. (25sts.)
Next row: K1, [m1, K6] repeat [_] to the end.
Beg with P row st-st 3rows.
Next row: K3, [k2tog, k3] repeat [_] 4times, k2tog, k4. P 1row.
Next row: K3, [k2tog, K2] repeat [_] 4times, k2tog, k3. P1 row
Next row: K2, [K2tog, k1] repeat [_] 4 times, k2tog,k3. (14sts)
Beg with P row st-st 17 rows.
Cast off. Sew legs and stuff.
Body (back piece)
Note: I knitted the back piece in moss stitch, but also using “the wrong side” of the piece as “the right side” is also okay.
Cast on with furry yarn and 3.5mm needles: 17sts. P1 row
Next row: K1, m1, knit to last st, m1, k1. P1row.
Next row: K1, m1, knit to last st, m1, k1.
Beg with P row st-st (or moss stitch) 15 rows.
Next row: K1, [k2tog, k3] repeat [_] to the end. St-st 3 rows.
Next row: K1, [k2tog, k2] repeat [_] to the end. St-st 3 rows.
Next row: K1, [k2tog, k1] repeat [_] to the end. P1 row
Cast off.
Front piece
Cast on with brown yarn and 3 mm needles: 17sts. P1 row
Next row: K1, m1, knit to last st, m1, k1. P1row.
Next row: K1, m1, knit to last st, m1, k1.
Beg with P row st-st 17 rows.
Next row: K1, [k2tog, k3] repeat [_] to the end. St-st 3 rows.
Next row: K1, [k2tog, k2] repeat [_] to the end. St-st 3 rows.
Next row: K1, [k2tog, k1] repeat [_] to the end. St-st 3 rows.
Cast off.
Pin the front and back piece of the body together from the sides, right sides facing each other. Sew the sides together. Sew the legs to the bottom part of the body. Stuff the body firmly.
Head:
CO 13sts with furry yarn. P1 row.
Next row: K1, [m1, K1] repeat [_] to the end. P1 row
Next row: K1, [m1, K4] repeat [_] to the end. P1 row
Next row: K1, [m1, K5] repeat [_] to the end. P1 row
Next row: K1, [m1, K6] repeat [_] to the end.
Beg with P row st-st (or moss stitch) 8 rows. Change to light brown and smaller needles.
Next row: K1, [k2tog, k1], repeat [_] to end.
St-st 5 rows.
Next row: k2tog 5 times, K9, k2tog 5 times. P1 row
Next row: k2tog 4 times, K3, k2tog 4 times. st-st 3 rows
Next row: k2tog 2 times, K3, k2tog 2 times. P1 row. Cut off yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches. Sew the sides of together. Insert safety eyes before stuffing, stuff firmly and close the cast on edge. Note that the wrong side of the head is the side where the right side of the thicker yarn is.
Arms (make 2)
With smaller needles and light brown yarn cast on 9sts. Beginning with P row st-st 3 rows.
Next row: [kfb, k2] to end (12sts). Beginning with P row st-st 19rows.
Next row: K2tog across (6sts). Cut of yarn and pull through remaining stitches. Sew the under seam of the arms. Stuff firmly and sew to the body.
Embroider the face and attach head to the body securely.
