Knitted Ollie the Owl

You need:

Oddments of white, brown, orange, blue and light brown DK 8ply yarn.

Needles size 2,5mm

Stuffing

Pieces of black and orange felt for beak and eyes

Body and head (make 1)

Cast on 17 stitches with light brown yarn. P1 row

Next row: K1, [m1,k2], repeat [_] to end. P1 row

Next row: K1, [m1,k4], repeat [_] to end.

Begin with P row, st-st 13rows.

Next row: K1, [k2tog, k2] repeat 7 times, k2tog. P1row

Next row: K1, [m1,k1], repeat [_] to end.

St-st 11 rows.

Next row: K1, k2 tog to end. P1 row

Next row: k1, k2tog to end.

Cut yarn and pull it through remaining stitches. Sew the back seam and stuff. Circle yarn around the neck and pull.

Feet (make 2)

Cast on 9 stitches wiht orange yarn.

Knit 5 rows.

Next row: K1, k2tog to end.

Cut yarn and pull it through remaining stitches. Sew the seam and attach feet to body, like in the pictures.

Wings (make 2)

Cast on 12 stitches with brown yarn. P1 row.

Next row: k2tog, k8, k2tog. P1 row

Next row: k2tog, k6, k2tog. P1 row

Next row: k2tog, k4, k2tog. P1 row

Next row: k2tog, k2, k2tog. P1 row

Next row: k2tog twice.

Cut yarn and fold the wing in half and sew the back seam. Attach and sew wings to the body just below the nec.

Hat:

With white yarn cast on 30 stitches and knit 2 rows. Change to blue yarn and beginning with knit row, st-st 8 rows.

K2tog at each end of every k row (so that you decrease 2 stitche every knit row) and continue st-st until you have 8 stitches. Break yarn and pull it through remaining stiches. Attach the hat to head and sew it in its place.

Pompom:

Cast on 7 stitches with white yarn and knit 3 or 4 rows. Cut yarn and pull it trough remaining stitches. Sew the white piece so that it looks like a small ball and sew it to the hat. (I really don't remember how I made the pompom, it was a last minute idea and I didn't write the directions down ^_~)

Scarf:

Cast on 4 stiches with any colour you like and knit (g-st) for about 16-17 cm or 6,5-7 inches. Cast off. You can make a stripey scarf if you want.
