Knitted Canalside House

Instructions:
Using blue wool – cast on 28 sts.
Rows 1 – 2: Knit
Rows 3-18: White, stocking stitch (starting with a knit row)
Row 19: Cast off 2 st., knit 12 st., cast off 2 st., knit 12 st.
Now you have 12 sts for the front and 12 sts for the back of the house.
Finish one gable first (they are identical).
Row 20: Cast off 2 st, purl 10, turn
Row 21: Knit
Row 22: Purl
Row 23: Cast off 2 st., knit to the end (8 st.)
Row 24: Cast off 2 st., purl to the end (6 st)
Row 25: Knit
Row 26: Purl
Row 27: Cast off 2 st., knit to the end (4 st.)
Row 28: Cast off 2 st., purl to the end (2 st)
Row 29: Knit
Row 30: Purl
Cast off
Finish the other gable of the house, starting from row 20 (re-join in the middle of the house)
For a Delft blue effect the door and windows are embroidered in blue on a white front.
The roof and side are stitched on the right side, with stiches just beside the edge. This accentuates the edge of the roof.
Decorate and sew up.
