Knitted Baby Mittens

WHAT YOU NEED

3.5mm needles

4mm needles

Double Knit (DK) wool in 5 colours – I’ve used the colours to match my Rainbow Bobble Hat.

THE PATTERN

3.5 mm cast on 30 stitches in main colour (MC)

R1 = *k1, p1* repeat to end of row – this forms 1×1 rib

R2 – R6 = repeat for a 1×1 rib pattern

Switch to 4mm needles and yarn colour A

R7 = knit

R8 = purl

R9 = knit

R10 = purl

This 4 rows form a stocking stitch pattern

R11 – R14 = repeat stocking stitch pattern in colour B

R15 – R18 = repeat stocking stitch pattern in colour C

R19 – R22 = repeat stocking stitch pattern in colour D

R23 – R26 = repeat stocking stitch pattern in main colour

Shape top – all to be done main colour

R27 = *k3, k2tog* repeat to end

R28 = purl

R29 = *k2, k2tog* repeat to end

R30 = purl

R31 = *k1, k2tog* repeat to end

R32 = purl

R33 = *k2tog* repeat to end (you should now be left with 6 stitches on the needle)

Break off, thread through remaining 6 stitches and pull. Sew up the seam using mattress stitch.

Et viola! You have your first mitten.

Repeat the process again to make the second to the pair and there we have it. Your very own pair of Baby Mittens.
