TENSION

22 sts and 30 rows to 10cm over weave st patt using 4mm needles.

Use larger or smaller needles if necessary to obtain correct tension.

ABBREVIATIONS

W1 = knit next stitch wrapping yarn twice around needle instead of once.

Pass 6 = slip next 6 sts individually onto RH needle dropping extra wrap to form long sts. Slip the 6 sts back to LH needle and pass last 3 sts over first 3 sts. Purl the 6 sts.

BACK AND FRONT (BOTH ALIKE)

Using 4mm needles and A, cast on 91[95:99:107:113:119:127:133] sts.

Row 1 (RS): P1, (k1, p1) to end.

Row 2 (WS): K1, (p1, k1) to end.

Shape neck

Next row (RS): Patt 30[31:32:35:36:38:39:41] sts and turn, leaving rem 42[43:44:47:48:50: 51:53] sts on holder.

Keeping patt correct, cast off 4[4:4:5:5:5:5:5] sts at beg (neck edge) of next and 3 foll alt rows. 14[15:16:15:16:18:19:21] sts.

Patt 2 rows.

Cast off.

With RS of work facing, sl centre 12 sts on holder, rejoin yarn to rem 30[31:32:35:36:38:39:41] sts, patt to end.

Next row (WS): Patt to end.

Shape top

Keeping patt correct, cast off 3[4:4:5:5:5:6:6]sts at beg of next 2 rows. 64[66:72:74:78:82:84:88] sts Dec 1 st each end of next 3[3:3:3:5:5:5:5] rows. 58[60:66:68:68:72:74:78] sts.

Dec 1 st each end of every foll alt row to 32[28:36:32:32:32:32:28] sts.

Dec 1 st at each end of every row to 22 sts. Cast off.

NECKBAND

Join shoulder seams.

With RS facing, 4mm circular needle and A, rejoin yarn at shoulder seam, pick up and k16[16:16:20:20:20:20:20] sts down left side of neck, k across 12 sts from holder at centre of neck, pick up and k16[16:16:20:20:20:20:20] sts up right side of neck, 16[16:16:20:20:20:20:20] sts down side of neck, k across 12 sts from holder at centre of neck and pick up and k16[16:16:20:20:20:20:20] sts up side of neck. 88(88:88:104:104:104:104:104] sts.

Pm to indicate beg of rnd.

Work in rib as folls:

Rnd 1: (P1, k1) to end.

Rep this rnd 5 times more.

Cast off loosely in rib.

TO FINISH OFF

Place marker at centre of top of each Sleeve.

Sew Sleeves into armholes, matching markers to shoulder seams.

Join side and Sleeve seams. Darn in loose ends. Pin out sweater to measurements given.

Cover with clean, damp tea towels and leave to dry.
